Re: Gas tanks: How much fuel and where?
It is a misconception that mogas contains ethanol, Mogas from the airport actualy does not, nor does any fuel labeled ethanol free at your local automobile gas station. Getting the right octane for your engine is a whole other consideration, you can get auto fuel in much lower octanes which may or m...

Re: Parts spreadsheet
Its a great idea and something like that is really needed. I know the admin is working on a way for us to list new parts on this site as vendors, that's probably the most desirable solution for now as it can be updated by eneryone making the parts. Long term an illustrated parts catalog would be ide...

Re: Self Centering Nose Strut Upgrade
I've had a number of owners ask for me to overhaul or upgrade their nose strut or for me to instruct them what they need to do themselves. The nose struts require a number of tools and fixtures in addition to the seals. These really require machine shop equipment to produce so its not something the ...

Self Centering Nose Strut Upgrade
For those that don't know, the early Esco nose struts vary widely in configuration. One big change Lancair made was the introduction of a self-centering feature in the mid 90's. Early struts without this feature use a hoop attached to the fork to ensure that the wheel doesn't jack-knife against the ...

Re: GM26 & GM27 Drag Brace
Thank you Pat! While I enjoy working on my plane I also enjoy this. I made some more progress, the GM26 parts are completely done, ready for anodize but my anodizer is on vacation so we see when those go out. 20250429_002646.jpg I also got a start on the GM27 parts. 20250429_002930.jpg All of the tu...

Re: 235, 320, 360 Dump Valve
Tom, at least what you have there is 1/3 the price. Somehow the price skyrocketed for the compact valves, when I purchased mine a few years ago I paid only $40. . . Now they are well over $150. . .

Re: Super Legacy Rebuild - N23LF
I designed, built and wired a new G3X instrument panel. Just wow, the detail is obviously high here, most people don't invest the time in 3D modeling and texturing the panel during the design phase, they let their customer guess how it will look, and work. With what Tom did here you can see exactly...

Re: The Kevlar Lancair 235
That's really neat, never heard of it. Besides burning through expensive carbide drills I wonder how much sandpaper he went through!
