Re: Ownership of Lancair aircraft

I've been around just long enough and been involved with just enough kit company's to know a lot about how they die a slow death. Performance Aircraft (Turbine Legend), Radial Rocket, Glasair and now Lancair. The fundamental thing in your list which determines the rest of it is assuming Lancair is f...

Lancair 320 - 360 Long Cowling - New

I have a leftover set of original Lancair 320/360 cowlings that came with the kit. These are for the long engine mount, which aren't as easy to find anymore.

I have a crate here to box them up and ship them freight but that would be at buyers expense.

$300 plus shipping

Re: Gas tanks: How much fuel and where?

Old thread but I wanted to clarify wing fuel tank capacity. Built per the plans there are two position for the fuel cap. Either inboard of the aileron bellcrank bay which yields 15 or maybe 17 gallons, or outboard of the aileron bellcrank bay near the wingtip bulkhead which yields 20 or 21 total win...

Re: 235, 320, 360 Dump Valve

I replaced a couple of the stock dump valves over the years. I didn't know about Shane's suggestion. I used a Parker valve which meets the pressure rating but is definitely a more bulky option. It has female 1/4" NPT so I had to reduce to 1/8 and then use the street tee like the plans show for ...

Re: 320 Propeller

I realize this might be an old thread, but for future owners I have one other thing I did to help with prop/ground clearance. The nose wheel for on Unleashed, a Lancair 360 which has a 390, I included a 1/4" spacer between the bottom of the strut and the top of the nose gear fork. This only wor...

Re: Super Legacy Rebuild - N23LF

Flight testing was exciting and the power levels have been gradually going up. With Reno gone I don't know if we'll ever get to see what it can do unfortunately.

Re: Super Legacy Rebuild - N23LF

Anti detonation injection (ADI) and water spray nozzles are fed from the original tank slightly modified. The ADI uses the same automotive style fuel injector with a pressure regulator and return to the tank. The EFII system ramps in ADI flow at a set rate. Spray bars are a simple on/off with a manu...

Re: Super Legacy Rebuild - N23LF

Boost control is electronically controlled the same way I set up my Lycoming Super Legacy. An automotive style boost controller regulates wastegate pressure through solenoid valves. The target boost pressure is set on the controller and then it does all the work for you. Also has overboost protection.

Re: Super Legacy Rebuild - N23LF

I spent some time at LyCon dialing in a basic fuel map for the new TSIO-550 which has been converted to electronic fuel injection and ignition. This is a low compression 550 with large turbos so it is a very interesting combination. With some internal oil passages modified, this engine also has an a...
